Why Poodles are Amazing

There are so many reasons poodles are one of the best dog breeds. They are non-shedding and actually have hair, not fur. Which makes poodles an excellent choice for people with allergies. If you want a large breed dog that doesn't shed, the Standard Poodle is for you. They can weigh 45 to 70 lbs 20 to 32 kg, and can be over 15 inches tall. Large dogs that don't shed are awesome! They're gentle giants, and can easily keep up with their family. Our dog Jake loves to walk, hike, and play a good game of fetch. As great water dogs, swimming is another excellent exercise for the Standards. Poodles were originally bred to be retrievers for waterfowl. Thought to be French in origin the name poodle actually comes from the German word "pudel" or "pudelin," which means "to splash in the water." They're an active breed, but they also enjoy laying at the feet of their owners. Poodles are also super intelligent and easy to train. Jake is so intuitive and eager to please, so much so that my husband and I, as first-time dog owners merely rewarded him for good behaviour, which resulted in an almost instantly potty-trained dog. Poodles are very social with people and other dogs. And when properly trained, poodles can be quiet, not barking at people coming to the door or passing on the street. My husband and I have made an excellent choice for first-time dog owners.
